PPMA Vice President Opportunities

Join the Strategic Board and Help Shape the Future of the Public Service People Profession

The Public Service People Managers Association (PPMA) is inviting expressions of interest from passionate, forward-thinking HR and OD leaders to join our Strategic Board as Vice Presidents.

There are up to four Vice President roles available, offering a unique opportunity to influence the direction of the people profession across public services.

With over 140 member organisations and 3,400 HR and OD professionals, PPMA plays a pivotal national role in networking, professional development, and the sharing of best practice across public services.


About the Role

Vice Presidents play a key leadership role within PPMA, supporting the President and helping to drive the association’s strategic priorities.

  • Vice Presidents serve up to two years

  • There is an expectation that Vice Presidents will be willing to step up to the President role at an appropriate time

  • A full leadership journey could involve a five-year commitment (Vice President → President → Past President)

As a Vice President, you will be involved in promotion, media, engagement, and advocacy activities that strengthen PPMA’s national impact.


Key Responsibilities

As a Vice President, you will:

  • Assist the President with strategic planning and delivery

  • Represent the association in relevant forums and contribute to advocacy efforts.

  • Lead initiatives that enhance PPMA’s overall goals

  • Actively participate in the Strategic Board, including monthly meetings

  • Represent PPMA at relevant events and external forums

  • Contribute to advocacy, social media, webinars, and conferences

  • Build and nurture relationships with members, sponsors, and partners

  • Step in for the President when required


Time Commitment

The role requires a commitment of up to two working days per month.
This includes some evening commitments and travel.

Activities include:

  • Representing PPMA at events and stakeholder meetings

  • Judging or hosting PPMA talent, development, or awards events

  • Creating social media content to promote the HR/OD profession

  • Attending Strategic Board meetings

  • Supporting PPMA’s virtual and in-person conferences and webinars
