#outoftheshadows PPMA Ambassador

PPMA is delighted to introduce Helene Donnelly OBE as our PPMA Ambassador for this campaign.

Helene worked in the A&E Department at the NHS Foundation Trust at the heart of what has become known as the ‘Mid-Staffs’ scandal.  Concerned at the state of patient care she raised over 100 complaints.  During her time Helene was physically and verbally threatened and endured a profoundly difficult period in her professional and personal life.

She became a whistleblower and was a key witness at the Stafford Hospital Public Inquiry.  Her evidence contributed to the wide ranging recommendations of the Francis Report.  She is now an ambassador for cultural change at the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Partnership NHS Trust.  In this role she is responsible for raising concerns directly with the Chief Executive.  In addition to her nursing day job, Helene dedicates her time to helping the Department of Health promote whistleblowing training across NHS Trusts.

We are honoured to have Helene’s support for this campaign.  If you would like to contact Helene, you can reach her on [email protected].
