Employment Law Update – Still minding the pay gaps

As they seek to ensure fairness and equality in the workplace, addressing gender and other forms of pay gaps continues to be a challenge for many employers.  As well as providing a measure of the difference in average hourly pay between different groups, pay gaps can also be a good indicator of any inequalities which may exist in access to work, career opportunities, progression and reward. Deborah Moon, HR Consultant, considers this issue, particularly in relation to gender, disability and ethnicity pay gaps, in the light of two recent reports from the Equality and Human Rights Commission.
