Merry Christmas from our President and an Update on His Year So Far!

Dear colleagues and friends

On behalf of the Public Service People Managers’ Association team, I would like to wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy 2016 and thank you all for your ongoing support and commitment.

2015 has been a memorable year of celebrations in recognition of our 40th Anniversary and here are just a few of the highlights from my first 7 months as President

Our Annual Seminar, themed Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby was well attended and the feedback from both delegates and sponsors was great, in fact 97% of respondents to our post seminar survey reported that the event was ‘Excellent’ or ‘Very Good’. Our social media traffic was unparalleled and the media coverage was far reaching. And we were delighted that nearly three thousand pounds was raised for the charity, Hope for Tomorrow.

Also as part of PPMA’s ongoing year of recognition and celebration, we hosted a hugely successful event for the PPMA ‘Past Presidents’, at the House of Lords in June.

The event was a thank you to all of our past presidents for their support in making SOCPO and PPMA the much respected voice of HR across the public services. It was also to thank our sponsors and PPMA board members who are invaluable in many ways. Held in the prestigious and lovely surroundings of the Attlee Room at the House of Lords, it was hosted by Lord Michael Bichard, who has been a great supporter of SOCPO and PPMA over many years.

There have also been many other successful events across the country, including a CBI Dinner, PPMA Shires Network, MJ Awards, PPMA Board meetings, regional events and sponsorship meetings, to name a few.

We’ve also had some excellent coverage in the press, with over 25 articles appearing in a wide variety of publications – all helping to raise the profile of our Association and the high quality work carried out by our members.

And finally, a few other important updates – The Annual PPMA research to examine current issues and future trends in public sector HR, was released in November; The Launch of the PPMA Awards 2016 (sponsored by Guardian Jobs) is on 27th January 2016; We are refreshing the PPMA business plan for 2016-17; And we are currently looking for a Vice-President Elect.

It’s been a busy Presidential year so far and the PPMA Board and I look forward to working together with you for another successful year in 2016 and into the future.
