It was a real privilege last week, as PPMA President, to be part of the judging panel for the MJ Achievement awards judging the workforce transformation category. Thirty one entries and six finalists! The award winners won’t be announced until June, so my lips are sealed! Two pieces of food for thought though.
The first is the capacity of our public sector organisations to keep their heads up and forge new thinking on how to support their employees through change. Playing their part in this are HR leaders who are quite clearly grasping the challenge and challenging themselves and their organisations to do things differently.
Then there is the extent to which the public sector workforce is absolutely up for change and improvement, supporting their customers in new and better ways. All this is happening despite the very difficult financial circumstances in which our organisations are operating.
PPMA are one of the sponsors for these awards because we believe in the importance of recognising and celebrating achievement across the public sector. I know that the award entries represent some quite amazing work that is going on across local government and in the wider public sector to support workforce change. Let’s shout out more about this! PPMA members, why not share your stories with me?
Off to finish my Easter eggs now! ‘Till next week,
