Pepper is a humanoid robot designed “to make people happy”, enhance people’s lives, facilitate relationships, have fun with people and connect people with the outside world. Pepper, together with Phil Webster from Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, will explain how robotics can benefit (not replace) humans. Pepper has a staff badge and is a critical part of the Southend workforce, working with adults and children to improve lives he’s recently been helping people with dementia as well as Autism.
Jane Graham – Wiltshire Council
Jane Graham will offer insight into how Wiltshire Council have been using behavioural and psychometric profiling in their recruitment, from job advert to interview. This has helped them build ideal candidate profiles to attract people with the right ‘fit’ and ensured more success at hiring first time round. As well as offering her expert insight, Jane will also share a couple of case studies that show how these methods work in practise.
Alex Holly – West of England Combined Authority
What does the new generation want from the world of work and how can we adapt our working environment to attract them? During his time at both Bristol CC and, currently, at WECA, Alex has been part of a team tasked with making these organisations more flexible and adaptable for the millennial generation. Given the importance of attracting younger workers when it comes to future-proofing an organisation and securing effective succession planning, Alex shares his experiences and tips for other employers looking to the same.
