SUMMARY:Smashing the glass ceiling: Shared parental leave
DESCRIPTION:\nJoin us at Kings Place for The Guardian’s latest Smashing the glass ceiling event on Thursday 6 December 2018.\nThe series focuses on how to promote equality in the workplace, and in our third edition we’ll be taking a forensic look at shared parental leave.\nShared parental leave was hailed as the groundbreaking legislation that would finally tackle the gender pay gap. But according to government estimates, after three years the take-up could be as low as 2% among eligible couples.\nThe event will be chaired by senior Guardian reporter and equality campaigner Alexandra Topping. She’ll be joined by Johan Bävman, the photographer who documented Sweden’s excellent parental leave policies in the “Swedish Dads” photo series, Duncan Fisher OBE who manages policy and innovation at the Family Initiative and H.E. Mr Stefán Haukur Jóhannesson, Ambassador of Iceland in the UK.\nThis event is supported by Guardian Jobs and PPMA (Public Services People Managers Association).\nWe are delighted to offer you a 50% discount when you enter the following discount code: PPMA\nTickets can be purchased here ( https://membership.theguardian.com/event/smashing-the-glass-ceiling-shared-parental-leave-51550372552 ).\nCanapes and drinks will be served after the discussion.\nTime: Arrive 6.30pm for a 7pm start\nLocation: The Guardian, Kings Place, 90 York Way, N19GU\nWe’re looking forward to seeing you there.\n
