As part of PPMA’s developing links with CIPFA at a Regional level they kindly hosted an event on 8 July 2011, which was also attended by PPMA’s President Anne Gibson.
�

CIPFA also run their own HR Thought Leadership events, which are open to PPMA members.

�

The attached is a summary of the event, at which Richard Crouch (PPMA Policy Lead for Leadership and OD) was on the panel of speakers, on the theme of ‘Maintaining Employee Morale and Motivation during Times of Organisational Change’.

Our last Regional meeting took place on 13 January, kindly hosted by DLA Piper, and focussing on the theme of Employee Engagement. We had an interesting and informative range of speakers:

Lisa Sibley, Employee Engagement Manager, Essex County Council, spoke about how they are approaching employee engagement within that authority.Lisa was a speaker at the recent CIPD annual conference, so this was a great opportunity to hear directly from her.
Martin Rayson, PPMA Vice President, provided an overview of the research that has been undertaken on the employee value proposition and what this tells us about how we can keep employees engaged during these challenging times.
DLA Piper provided an employment law update on the Agency Workers Regulations and also made a presentation on some of the key issues arising from their HR Benchmarker.
