Emergency Services
Annual Report 2009
• I was asked during the year to take on the lead officer role for the emergency services.
• It has been a very busy year. In policing we reached national agreements on both leadership and people strategies. These create a consensus of direction for the 43 forces for the first time.
• We have also worked with colleagues in defence, fire, health, education, local government and Whitehall through the P.S.L.A (Public Services Leadership Alliance). We spent two days at the Defence Academy with a range of fellow Chief Executives of leadership institutions. This included a session on calling Cumbria organised by the leadership centre for local government.
• I have given a wide range of contribution to the media, both HR and policing and spoken at a wide range of conferences.
• This year once again my organisation is delighted to be contributing to the national conference through a workshop as well as sponsorship for a range of events.
