Podcast and speakers slides from our National Debate Event on 10th November 2011

The need for debate and shared learning in the public sector has never been greater and in recognition of this, we held a special members only event at this year’s CIPD Conference in Manchester.

The one day session chaired by PPMA President Anne Gibson, featured a variety of speakers from both the public and private sectors and was well attended by PPMA members from across the country. After the event, we interviewed some of the speakers and captured the key points from their sessions in a short podcast, which you can listen to below.

Stephen Taylor, has been advisor to leaders and top teams and was voted as one of the top 50 most influential people in the sector by the MJ.

 

Andy Doyle, Group HR Director at ITV, talked about their innovative engagement strategy and practice and how he and his teams are achieving high levels of success.

 

Veronica Hope-Hailey, Professor at Cass Business School, shared her findings from recent research carried out for The CIPD into building and retaining trust and the implications of this for the public sector.

 

Richard Bartlett and Wendy Beaver are from NEST (National Employment Savings Trust) and discussed the latest pension changes and how these can be successfully implemented.

Lubna Haq is a Director at Hay Group, who have carried out some major research into leadership and shares the key findings.

John Bruce Jones from Stanton Marris has been working with 4 Councils on a pilot funded by the LGA, around change and de-layering in the public sector. In conjunction with Pam Parkes from Croydon who are one of the pilot councils, they discuss their experiences so far. 

Beverley Alimo-Metcalfe is a leading figure in the field of leadership studies and has undertaken one of the largest investigations into effective leadership and discusses the implications for the sector.
