Full Membership (Public Sector)

Memberships run annually from the 1st July. Any members joining after 1st January will receive a discount for the first year.

Full Membership of the Association is open to HR specialists in England, Wales and Northern Ireland employed by

  • Local Authorities (other than a parish, town or community council)
  • Police, Fire, Civil Defence Authorities and Education
  • Probation and associated services e.g. Magistrates Courts
  • National and Regional Employers Organisations, Local Government Association, Improvement and Development Agency and Regional Development Agencies
  • Government Departments, Civil Service, NDPB’s (non departmental public bodies)
  • Other linked public sector organisations.

and who in the opinion of the Association can be categorised as one of the following

  • The Head of the HR service
  • The most Senior HR professional
  • Senior staff in a Corporate HR department with strategic responsibilities
  • Head of a devolved or departmental HR unit

If a member ceases to hold office under the above categories, Full membership of the Association ceases but an application can be made to change to Associate or Affiliate membership whichever is appropriate for the change of circumstances.
